My name is Latoya, I am a native English speaker from South Africa. I hold a TEFL certificate and a certificate in executive secretarial studies.
I have two years of teaching experience as a teaching assistant for a daycare and aftercare centre, where I worked with little kids up to teenagers. I helped a majority of non English speaking students learn English, as they spoke a first language that was one of South Africa's eleven official languages. I used a hybrid teaching style that used interactive and engaging methods to assist them.
During my time there I learned to be patient and organized. I found that I had a passion for helping students learn. I now use a teaching philosophy that my role is to supply students with the support and enrichment they require to be prosperous in a safe and positive environment. This is why my goal is to help students feel comfortable, motivated and supported to learn English.
